Spring 2013 Howard Hodgkin, Black Basalt Box

Designed by world famous Painter Howard Hodgkin and hand made in London by Stuart Carey. Available exclusively at Yoox.com and on display at the Gagosian, Rome.




 Three piece press-moulds made from a sledged plaster form for both body and lid. Hand rolled slabs pressed in 8 sections, hand cut and shaped hole, sprayed with a refined slip made from the same clay body to give a sophisticated finish. Fired to 1220c and hand polished. The Boxes are then gilded with 24carrot gold.
